Terms of use

These terms cover how DOKOKO may be used by visitors, trading businesses and market organisers.

Last updated: 28 September 2026

This is a working draft written for DOKOKO’s private alpha. It has not yet been reviewed by a solicitor, and it will be reviewed professionally before wider public release. If anything here is unclear, please get in touch.

1. Who we are and what DOKOKO does

DOKOKO is a United Kingdom platform for independent physical markets. We help people find markets and the traders who set up at them, we help trading businesses apply to market dates, and we help organisers run those markets and dates.

DOKOKO does not run the markets listed on the site, does not own the stalls, and does not sell the goods traders sell. Each market is run by its own organiser, and each stall is run by its own business.

2. Browsing DOKOKO

Anyone may browse markets, market dates and trader profiles without an account. We try to keep listings accurate and up to date, but market details are supplied by organisers and traders and can change at short notice — including dates, opening times and who is trading.

Always check with the organiser before travelling a long way for a particular market date or a particular trader.

3. Accounts

Accounts are for trading businesses and market organisers. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details private and for everything done through your account. The information you give us about your business must be accurate and must describe a business you are genuinely entitled to act for.

You must not create an account that impersonates another business, market or person, and you must not claim a market you do not run.

4. Trading businesses

When you apply to a market date, your application, the days you asked for and the prices shown to you at that moment are recorded as they stood. If the organiser makes you an offer and you accept it, that becomes your booking on the terms you accepted.

You are responsible for your own trading: your licences, insurance, registrations, food hygiene obligations, tax affairs, equipment and the goods you sell. Organisers may require documents before confirming you, and you are responsible for keeping those documents current.

Your business contact number is shared with the organiser of a market date once you have applied to it, so they can reach you about that date.

5. Market organisers

You are responsible for the markets and dates you publish, the information you show publicly, the pitches and extras you offer, the prices you set, the decisions you make about applications, and your obligations to traders, venues and local authorities.

Your organiser contact number is shared with a trading business when you make them an offer, so they can reach you about that date.

Cancelling a date, removing a confirmed trader, or rescheduling a date has consequences for traders who have already paid. Those consequences follow the cancellation and refund rules shown to you in DOKOKO at the time.

6. Money, fees and refunds

Pitch fees and paid extras are set by the organiser, not by DOKOKO. Card payments are handled by our payment provider; DOKOKO does not store your full card details.

DOKOKO charges organisers a platform fee, which is explained to the organiser inside their account before they start taking bookings. Refunds follow the cancellation rules shown at the time of booking, using the amounts actually recorded against that booking.

7. Acceptable use

You must not use DOKOKO to:

  • impersonate another business, organiser or person;
  • upload anything unlawful, misleading or harmful;
  • misuse contact details given to you through DOKOKO, including using them for unsolicited marketing;
  • attempt to reach data belonging to another business or organisation;
  • copy, scrape or resell DOKOKO listings at scale.

8. Content you give us

You keep ownership of the words, photographs and documents you upload. By uploading them you allow us to store them and to show them where the product is designed to show them — for example a public market page, or a document you have chosen to share with a particular organiser. Private documents stay private until you share them.

9. Availability

We work to keep DOKOKO available and correct, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or free of faults. We may change, suspend or withdraw features, and we will try to give reasonable notice of changes that materially affect how you trade.

10. Ending your use of DOKOKO

You may stop using DOKOKO at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, impersonates a business, or puts traders, organisers or visitors at risk. Records of completed bookings, payments and refunds are kept where we need them for accounting and dispute handling.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be removed by agreement.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as DOKOKO develops. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed, and material changes will be brought to the attention of account holders.
